1 Week into the Primal Challenge!?

It’s been 1 week and 1 day since the Primal Eat Clean Challenge began! How are YOU feeling?!

I have heard all kinds of reports from those participating in the challenge on mood, hunger, cravings and more.

Firstly, I have to say that I am less grumpy. However, it seems that when the temperature outside gets colder, I crave more carbs- rice in hot soup, chicken soup, chilli with beans and cheeeeeese… It’s probably my instincts trying to fatten me up to prepare for an inevitable hibernation.

Your experiences…

And what do you guys say? Well this weekend I heard a lot less about cravings for sugar, and about hunger. That is good news! Your body has made it passed the toughest hurdle. Breaking the habit of carbs and sugars in the morning is not easy, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. Your body will rely on stored energy better, both from carbohydrates and from stored body fat.

And isn’t that really a huge part of this? Everyone, even those who want to improve performance want to cut down some bits of fat along the way. Ain’t nothing wrong with getting CUT! That is why we took body fat percentage measures to compare for later.

In addition, your body had to get used to not having your blood sugar levels spike in the mornings, which usually causes snacking soon after breakfast. As you adjust you might even feel like the quantities we list are more than enough to be satisfied.

Getting bored of the same old? I put together some of my favourite Primal food ideas you might consider stealing:

GOOSE ROAST!

IMG_0661

YUM! This is what I like to replace turkey with because it is very lean, and more tasty. They eat a lot of wild things, like bugs and whatever they find in water, making the meat contain a different variety of nutrients. If you can get your hands on some goose, grab it!

Cook time: 1 hour @ 375degrees

You’ll need: A goose; 2 or 3 oranges; pepper; ginger if you want, sweet potato, carrots and onion. And an oven (Thanks, Joann! ;)

prep:

Throw on some random sprinkles of spices all over the exterior. Rub them all over – I’m talking about some pepper and maybe some kind of ground/ powdered ginger.

Peel a few oranges and stuff it up the butt (I think that’s the butt?)

Fill a pan with a couple of cups of water, so it always has water in it. Toss in chunks of carrot, sweet potato and onions. Roast for a while, uncovered. Take it out and check on it after 40 minutes. Depending on the size, you might also want to add some water if it’s drying up. toss back in for 20-30 mins.

Daily Salad Delight!

MMMM! While I hate my veggies, I LOVE my special salad. It’s my twist on Greek salad.

What you need: A sharp Knife, a bunch of veggies…

Cherry tomatoes

Avocado

Yellow or orange sweet pepper

Tiny cute cucumbers

Kalamata olives (ONLY A COUPLE!)

Goat feta

Home made dressing: 1tsp olive oil, 1tsp balsamic vinaigrette, pepper

I usually make an obscenely large portion and split it between 2 or 3 meals.

Well that’s all I have for now! Let me know if you guys have ideas you would like to share, or if we should have a feeling sharing circle meeting.
